Can someone shape clay by day and tend the land the next, and still call both the same craft? I would say yes.
I used to be president of the Usamborgia association, and I bring an artistic background rooted in traditional ceramics together with a hands-on life in farming, moving easily between the two worlds in Sicily.
Ceramics has been a lifelong passion of mine. Shaping and decorating clay by hand, often drawing on traditional forms and figures that carry the character of the local craft. Alongside this, farming has shaped just as much of my life, giving me a close, everyday relationship with the land. I see the two as connected: both ask for patience, care, and an eye for what the material and the season are offering.
I care about keeping traditional crafts and rural knowledge alive and passing them on to younger generations. I value community, hands-on work, and the idea that art and the land are not separate worlds but part of the same heritage worth protecting.
