I am passionate about theater and film. I create experimental films, video art, and projects that combine image, literature, photography, and poetry. I am interested in the social and cultural roles of women, interpersonal relationships, and the tension between the individual and established conventions.
In my works, I use film to raise questions about contemporary society, identity, and cultural relations. The short film “Pariasi”, inspired by Paweł Pawlikowski’s “Cold War” and the poetry of Tadeusz Różewicz, tackles the theme of socio-psychological differences and the relations between Poles and Germans.
I am drawn to projects that do not provide simple answers, but rather create a space for personal interpretation.
One of the most important themes in my work is the position of women in the contemporary world. The series “Crucifixion or resurrection;” includes an etude, video art pieces, photographs, and collages dedicated to the institution of marriage and the cultural image of the bride.
In the “Manifesto of Brides” and works inspired by the Stabat Mater Dolorosa motif, I draw on religious symbolism, the wedding ritual, and the image of a woman confined within imposed roles and expectations.
Literature and poetry are an important starting point for my films. “GLUKUPIKROS”, based on the work of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, tackles the theme of femininity and love. “Ewa z wichrowych wzgórz” combines inspiration from Julian Tuwim’s poem with the music of Mieczysław Fogg and reflections on the moral position of a woman and her relations with others.
In the triptych “W temacie K.”, I juxtapose a poem, a reportage, and a short film. Each medium allows for looking at femininity from a different perspective.
In the reportage “Kim jest kobieta?”, inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s “Talking Heads”, I ask young people about the contemporary understanding of woman and femininity.
I work both independently and collectively, handling the concept, directing, cinematography, and editing. I am interested in formal experimentation and the intersection of different disciplines: film, poetry, photography, collage, and performative art.
