Maja Chocaj

On a daily basis, I work in medical physics, and after hours, I develop my passion for art—especially drawing and creating graphic novels. This combination of the world of hard science with imagination and storytelling is exceptionally inspiring to me. It shows that precision and creativity can not only go hand in hand but also mutually enrich each other.

Drawing and graphic novel

The graphic novel is a great way of combining the story with the visual elements, allowing the reader to become fully immersed in the world that is presented. Many of my works deal with themes such as adventure, fantasy, science fiction or also socially relevant issues.

In the case of stories that take place in the past, I do thorough research because I want to take care of all the details about not only the people who lived in those times, but also the prevailing fashion or the interior design of the houses.

My path to myself...

My style grows out of a careful observation of everyday life—its absurdities, minor dramas, humor, and unobvious characters. I enjoy creating illustrations, comics, posters, and graphic stories where simple drawings, expressive typography, and bold color combinations build the character of the entire story.

I often use exaggeration, irony, and slightly surreal associations. My characters tend to be a bit strange, imperfect, and very human—even when they take the form of animals. It is important to me that every piece has its own rhythm, atmosphere, and sense of humor, and that the image is not merely a decoration, but tells something more.

I am most interested in designing worlds that capture attention and encourage the discovery of further details. I combine narrative, illustration, and typography to create works that are direct, distinctive, and full of personality.

Details that matter...

I try to make my drawings not only catch the eye with the richness of colors and details, but, above all, make you think deeply. Each element I draw is carefully thought out and has a significant meaning or hidden message and the viewer can interpret it in his own way.

If you are looking for something original, unique and inspiring, I invite you to discover my art.
